Miami. (RM, audio at the end ) - The Republican Party of Cuba presented diplomas to several former Cuban political prisoners on Sunday during an event held at noon at the offices of that opposition organization, at 433 NW 25th Avenue, in the city of Miami.
"The idea behind holding this luncheon for the former political prisoners is because we cannot forget that these were women who served 25 and 30 years in prison. The testimonies we heard there, the accounts they gave of what they suffered in prison for continuing to fight for our homeland, for giving everything for Cuba (...), I believe they deserve to always be present in our minds," stated Magdelivia Hidalgo, vice executive director of the Republican Party of Cuba.
He added that "last year 36 former political prisoners died and we have a commitment to all Cuban political prisoners, but especially to the women, who have always borne the burden of the house, the children, the parents (...) and to support all these brave women."
