Holguín, Cuba. It is truly sad and inhumane to be serving long sentences for demanding freedoms and rights, but what is heartbreaking is that under this injustice, our mother or father dies far from our care. Today, our brave sisters María Cristina Garrido and Angélica Garrido, political prisoners for the July 11 attacks, are in painful mourning this Saturday following the death of their beloved mother, Oneida Rodríguez Mesa.

On behalf of the Republican Party of Cuba and all Cubans who defend the rights and freedoms of the Cuban people, we deeply regret this significant loss for our sisters. May God welcome the mother of María Cristina and Angélica into His embrace and grant her eternal peace and glory. Our heartfelt condolences go out to family and friends.

We share in the grief of the courageous sisters María Cristina Garrido, who is the National Executive Director of the Republican Party of Cuba, and Angélica Garrido, who on such a painful day is celebrating her birthday. It is sad and heartbreaking for these dignified sisters, who on September 15th of this year had already lost their beloved father Raul Garrido, just 3 months and 9 days apart, and now receive this new blow.

Ramón Zamora Rodríguez.

National Spokesperson of the Republican Party of Cuba.
