Cuba. (PRC) - September 20, 2015. On the eve of Pope Francis' visit to Cuba and during the visit itself, pro-democracy activists carried out a series of actions, ranging from using churches to read a declaration to the people of Cuba and the world to draw attention to the nation's situation, to initiating a hunger strike in the central region of the country, and other activists attempting to approach the Pope and distributing leaflets in the capital. Our organization congratulates its members: FLAMUR, Impacto Juvenil Republicano, Frente Nacional de Resistencia Cívica Orlando Zapata Tamayo, the Central Opposition Coalition of which we are a part, the Pinar del Río Democratic Alliance of which we are a part, the Isla de Pinos Opposition Board of which we are a part, the activists of UNPACU, the Ladies in White with their marches to Santa Rita, and all those who attempted to carry out actions, including the six teams from the PRC, FLAMUR, and IJR, and were unsuccessful. All have done what they should; reason is on their side. Their conduct is dignified before a homeland defiled by the greatest plunder in its history. Intolerance, imprisonment, and excessive repression have been the response of the military dictatorship.
The PRC will not remain indifferent to actions carried out against communist tyranny; whether we sympathize with the method of struggle or not, our solidarity will always be on the side of the fighter; to criticize them or remain impartial is to support the tyrant.
This visit, like the two previous ones, has shown that the people are being manipulated under the current conditions, and that they are fraternizing with the murderers. We can ask for, speculate about, the results, but their agenda will only serve to unite the faction of the Cuban clergy that is willing to accept the outcome, not those who seek a free and prosperous future for their faithful.
What is clear to everyone is that our task, freedom, is pending and it is up to all of us to fight for it.
We will triumph!
