Placetas, Villa Clara, Cuba. (PRC, Video at the end) - In an assembly meeting held in the city of Placetas, Villa Clara, on the 28th and 29th of this month of August, the directors of the Republican Party of Cuba, the women of the Rosa Parks Women's Civil Rights Movement and of the Latin American Federation of Rural Women (FLAMUR), as well as of Republican Youth Impact and executives of the Resistance Front issued the following joint declaration:
We, Cuban opposition members, urge our compatriots inside the island and in exile to support the National Strike in Cuba, a civic initiative that seeks the gradual paralysis of the entire infrastructure of Castro's totalitarianism.
The National Strike is not a project of a specific organization or civil umbrella; the National Strike is a call from the people summoning the people themselves, and it begins with a process of raising awareness among Cubans so that they understand that it is time not only to stop cooperating with the dictatorship but to confront it by going out to demand their rights.
They sign this declaration.
Yris Tamara Pérez Aguilera, president of the Rosa Parks Women's Civil Rights Movement.
Marbelis Yolanda Fernández Cruz, acting president of the Rosa Park Women's Civil Rights Movement.
Donaida Pérez Paseiros, national spokesperson for the Rosa Parks Women's Civil Rights Movement.
Lourdes Yen Rodríguez, National President of the Latin American Federation of Rural Women.
Marianela Leiva Serrano, municipal director in Isla de Pinos of the Latin American Federation of Rural Women.
Leticia Fernández Armenteros, director of FLAMUR in Villa Clara.
Yoandris Gutiérrez Vargas, director of Impacto Juvenil Republicano.
Jaime Riquelme Cárdenas, provincial director in Villa Clara of the Republican Party of Cuba.
Yaquelín Gutiérrez García, director in Isla de Pinos of the Republican Party of Cuba.
Daniel Millet Jiménez, head of the Agramontino Boitel and Zapata Viven command.
Carlos Michael Morales Rodríguez, national spokesperson for the Orlando Zapata Tamayo National Civic Resistance Front.
Adel López Nápoles, national executive director of the Republican Party of Cuba.
Jorge Luis García Pérez Antúnez, general secretary of the Resistance Front.
In 2013, the civic initiative known as the National Strike was launched. Since its inception, many people both on and off the island have joined it.
This is a call to all citizens to stop obeying and serving the Castro dictatorship. As the people become more aware and join this call, we must create the conditions to paralyze all the regime's institutions and repressive methods, so that, deprived of its main means of maintaining power, it will collapse under its own weight.
Since the National Strike is a very effective method for ending the oppressive Castro dictatorship, and it is already achieving its objective, as more and more Cubans join this civic action being forged on the island, we urge all our brothers in exile to support the nationals who are joining this project and those who work daily to raise awareness among the Cuban people so that they join this civic call of the Gradual National Strike.
