PRC member arrested in Cuba.

Miami. (Martinoticias, video at the end ) - Geiser Conde, leader of the Republican Party of Cuba (PRC) in Kentucky, United States, was arrested in the early hours of Tuesday, November 18, by members of State Security, in the province of Las Tunas, independent journalist Juan Rufino informed Martinoticias.

Conde, "was planning a meeting with the municipal directors of the Republican Party here in the province of Las Tunas. Yoandry Sánchez, director of the PRC in Las Tunas, was also arrested along with Yenier Johnson. In addition, Emilio Sánchez López, municipal director (of the PRC)," and Juan Rufino, spokesperson for this institution, are being kept under strict surveillance.

At the time of issuing his report, Rufino noted that the whereabouts of Vladimir Calderón, national director of the PRC, and Yoandrys Gutiérrez Vargas, director of the eastern zone of Impacto Juvenil Republicano, were unknown.

A sister of Conde, who spoke with Cuban authorities to inquire about his situation, stated that "the only reason they gave her was that he was going to be deported." The woman said that at the police station they asked for her brother's passport and roughly confiscated his luggage. They told her that Conde was going to be taken to Havana.

Conde had traveled to the Cuban capital in 2011, according to the Republican Party of Cuba. On October 31 of that year, he was returned to the United States on a flight from Havana.

The Republican Party of Cuba, in an article published on its website entitled "Geiser Conde, this is my land, it is my right, I do not accept blackmail," stated that he "has carried out his visit as planned. In addition to meeting with his family, he has met with various Cubans from his province."

The PRC adds that "on Friday they began threatening him (Conde) to cancel a meeting he had planned with some Cubans… he told them that he had the right to meet with whomever he wanted. On Saturday the threats continued, including threats against members of his family, to imprison him, he claimed that if the opposition members went out and met freely, they couldn't prevent him from meeting with them in his own land…".

Last Sunday, Conde called Radio Martí and Radio Mambí to report the threats against him. Shortly afterward, he was arrested.
