Occupied San Rosendo Cathedral in Pinar del Rio

Pinar del Rio. (audio at the end) - September 1, 2015. At the San Rosendo Church on Maceo and Virtudes streets, five opposition members gathered: Irina Caridad León Valladares, Provincial Director of the Republican Party of Cuba in Pinar del Rio, leading the group; Leodan Suárez Quiñones, Provincial Treasurer of the PRC; Michael Valladares Cala; Carlos Alberto Rodríguez Seruto, Director of the PRC in the municipality of Palacios and member of the provincial board; and Daudi Ermelo Lago, President of FLAMUR in the municipality of Pinar del Rio, to read the following statement:

Declaration to the people of Cuba and to the world.

Through this medium, the Republican Party of Cuba, FLAMUR, Republican Youth Impact, and we invite any organization that wants to join.

We are here exercising our right to tell the Pope that there is no hatred among Cubans; the behavior of state terrorism and hatred is what the military regime practices against its people.

To the European Union, the current US administration, and the world in general, we say that no changes have taken place internally in Cuba.

Of course we want relations between our people and the US and the rest of the world, but modern relations between countries that respect human rights.

We are against the way the world is currently behaving, without demanding that this totalitarian regime respect the Universal Charter of Human Rights.

Who are the reactionaries?

It is these negotiators who have fostered the increase in the stampede of illegal departures that are risky for life.

The same ones who have given this license to tyrants to increase beatings, arrests and the practice of pro-government mobs terrorizing our people and the fighters for freedom and democracy.

They have turned their backs on modernity, on the light, on the future, on hope, and on those who carry that torch in search of freedom and rights for all Cubans.

Who benefits from this selective capitalism practiced by these negotiators?

Firstly, to the only capitalist entrepreneurs in Cuba, which is the Castro-communist military clique in power.

To the international merchants of death.

To the reactionaries of this world who sympathize with left-wing totalitarianism.

It's not that difficult to understand this reality and want to sell pure futuristic speculation internationally without any credible basis.

Today we sent a message to the Pope asking him to take into account, during his visit, the right to freedom for Cubans and respect for the Universal Charter of Human Rights.
