Ibrahim Bosch responds to smear campaign orchestrated in Cuba

Miami (neoclubpress.com) – The occupation of several Cuban churches by opposition members in early September, on the eve of Pope Francis's visit to the island and with the Republican Party of Cuba playing a prominent role, has unleashed a media offensive by the Castro regime against this opposition organization and its president, Ibrahim Bosch, a Miami resident. As is typical of the Castro regime's manipulation apparatus, this is a smear campaign based on half-truths and blatant lies; a campaign whose conceptual absurdities can only be swallowed by pro-Castro supporters who are out of touch with the realities of the island, delusional militants, or, more simply, fanatics of the so-called "Cuban Revolution."

As has become increasingly common lately, the campaign against the Republican Party of Cuba, and in general against organizations and opposition figures both inside and outside the country—FLAMUR, Impacto Juvenil Republicano, Frente Nacional de Resistencia Cívica Orlando Zapata Tamayo, Coalición Central Opositora, Alianza Democrática Pinareña, UNPACU, etc.—is being led from the island by Raúl Capote and Percy Alvarado Godoy, bloggers in the service of the Havana regime. In light of all this, we interviewed businessman and politician Ibrahim Bosch, who kindly answered the following questions:

Armando Añel. Raúl Capote is identified in this video, in which he attacks you, as a former “Cuban agent infiltrated in the CIA,” and consequently, in the video, he—Capote—attempts to conflate donations from private entities here in the United States with money supposedly distributed by that intelligence agency. Which CIA is this man talking about?

Ibrahim Bosch. Refuting these lackeys of the Cuban military regime is not a meritorious act. The dilemma lies in deciding whether or not to respond. The greatest punishment for these people, paid with food, like 21st-century slaves without dignity—as in the case of Raúl Capote—is being forced to say what they don't think and defend the indefensible Castro-communist project, a destroyer of the nation that not even they themselves truly believe in.

In this country, political parties—and the Republican Party of Cuba is one—do not receive money from the U.S. State Department (I suppose the State Department is what they call “the CIA”). Anyone with even a modicum of information knows this. The distribution of these funds is a matter of public record! These unfortunate people apparently don't know that in normal countries, private individuals and organizations donate money. In Cuba, where there is only hunger, misery, and need, it's clear that practically no one can donate. They, Capote and company, are simply forced to play the role of public ignorance.

AA. Regarding the occupations of churches immediately before the Pope's visit, Capote and Alvarado Godoy are trying to lump together the Republican Party of Cuba, the Cuban American National Foundation (CANF), and other organizations, politicians, and philanthropists. Is it true that you are working together?

IB. The little accurate information these two provide is all public. However, anything that requires investigation is either falsified or unreliable. What a lack of dignity to have to play the role of trained clowns!

Alvarado Godoy mentions Mr. Antonio Costa Labrador, but this great Cuban, and philanthropist, did not give any money for these actions, neither this time nor in 2012, when we also occupied a church in Havana… I must state that we have no ties with any of the organizations mentioned by Percy Alvarado, and not for lack of desire on our part, because if we worked in coordination we would be more effective and have better results.

For my part, I have every right in the world to fight for the freedom of my people alongside those on the island who, with the same right, wish to do so. The Republican Party of Cuba is an atypical organization. Its members inside Cuba, and we here outside, are united: we all belong to the same organizational structure and work for freedom, without any political or economic dependence. Our only commitment, I insist, is to the people of Cuba.

AA. Both Alvarado Godoy and Capote refer to you and other opposition figures and organizations as “terrorists.” So, despite the US rapprochement with the regime, their henchmen continue to use this language of distortion and demonization, as if we were still in the Cold War… what do you think?

IB. The terrorist label belongs to those in power in Cuba. I remind you of the airplane hijackings, the kidnapping of Fangio, the race car driver, the kidnapping of the Virgin of Regla, the night of the hundred bombs, the attack on the Moncada Barracks, and many other tragic events. The 26th of July Movement planted bombs in civilian places, shot at buses, etc. And all this within the context of a dictatorship where, nevertheless, there was space for discussion, freedom of the press existed, and Batista was willing to relinquish power. After his triumph, it is also necessary to mention—to list only a few—the crimes against the detainees of the Escambray guerrilla, the reconcentration policy that displaced many peasants from that area, dispossessing them of their properties and sending them to the well-known captive villages in Pinar del Río, the transfer of detainees from Brigade 2506 in the infamous refrigerated truck known as the "death truck," during which several prisoners suffocated, the crimes of the tugboat 13 de Marzo, the downing of the Brothers to the Rescue planes… Castroism has executed innocent people, imprisoned, murdered, repressed, and forced millions of Cubans to leave their country (all of this is public record, documented history).

Regarding the patriots whom Capote and Alvarado Godoy are trying to denigrate, any one of them is more honorable than the sum of all those who serve communist despotism in Cuba. I consider Adel López Nápoles, the national executive director of the Republican Party of Cuba, to which I belong, an honorable Cuban dedicated to the cause of freedom. They want freedom and democracy, while Castro's servants maintain the regime of oppression and misery. With the occupation of these churches in early September, the current activists were simply demanding, in a non-violent manner, that the regime be internationally compelled to comply with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

AA. Do you see any benefit for the Cuban people in the current Pope's visit to the Island?

IB. No amount of conversations between the dictator and popes or presidents of other nations, nor any relations between countries, nor the lifting of blockades, will resolve the calamitous situation in my country. The solution lies in Cuba, and Cubans inside the island and those outside have always been reconciled; those who have intentionally created this fictitious division have been the oppressors in power.

I challenge the dictator general at the head of the military regime to a public debate to discuss the problems of the Cuban nation and propose solutions, but to accept this debate one must have a vision of greatness and a willingness to serve the people. You answer, General.
