Palma Soriano, Santiago de Cuba. (PRC) - This morning, April 26, 2020, Alberto Martínez Hernández, Director of the Republican Party of Cuba in the province of Santiago de Cuba and National Project Coordinator of the organization, along with Denia Fernández Rey, Provincial Director of FLAMUR in Santiago de Cuba, were arrested and taken to the police station. During the interrogation, Captain Plutin, head of the police station, used coercion and threats typical of henchmen in the service of the regime.
The arbitrary arrest was a result of provocation and offenses committed by Jaime Pinto, a police officer, who used a housing dispute as a pretext to facilitate the arrest. This practice of fabricating cases against opponents is part of the tyranny's repressive apparatus. These opponents are under constant surveillance for the purpose of intimidation and control.

Throughout the entire time, members of both organizations were present, supporting and showing solidarity with their leaders in areas surrounding the police station.
