Foundation

The creation of a party that responds to the current interests and realities of our homeland and our people, under conditions of exile, is difficult—made even more so by the characteristics of the absurd dictatorial regime that overwhelms the Cuban people with its repressive machinery, and by international indifference, except in isolated cases.

Castro-Communism has undermined the foundations of our nationality, torn apart the Cuban family, and sown hatred among our people, basing control of society on terror through the brutal repression with which it operates, thereby dominating politics and the economy and allowing nothing that runs contrary to its absolute power. It has turned Cuba into a gigantic prison, violating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on a daily basis, imprisoning and physically eliminating brave patriots. The list of abuses in the long odyssey of Castroism is endless; due to its duration, it has spanned different generations, and it is truly impossible to create a party that accommodates all the ideas, interests, and needs of Cubans. Nevertheless, this party will fight for a homeland in which all Cubans do fit and are respected, because our dream and fundamental objective is to create a state governed by the rule of law, so that prosperity may prevail in Cuba within a climate of peace and democracy where all sectors of society and political parties can express themselves and help Cuba rise again from the economic and human misery into which it has been plunged.

For this struggle, and to ensure that similar situations are not repeated in Cuba—not from positions of power but alongside Cuban civil society, which will not allow any person or group to stand above the laws of the country—the Republican Party of Cuba is hereby founded in the city of Hialeah, Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States, on September 1, 2003, with a Board of Directors of 15 members, with a deep democratic spirit and with the objective of contributing to the elimination of the communist dictatorship that governs Cuba, and to pave the way for a provisional government that enables the creation of a democratic system where the rule of law exists.

The sole commitment and interest of this party is to the Republic of Cuba and its people, and it will fight tirelessly for the Cuban people’s desire to live in freedom and peace, under political, economic, and social conditions that enable Cubans to bring into their homes the resources necessary to live a dignified life together with their families, without their dreams and ambitions for progress being hindered by authoritarian controls—so that, on the path to achieving them, only their duties as citizens within a state governed by the rule of law stand in the way—such that the work and ingenuity of each individual may take them as far as they are capable of going, regardless of race, religion, or political ideas.

Currently, the methods we will use in the struggle against the Castro-Communist dictatorship are:

  • Support for internal dissidence and all forms of protest against the dictatorship, both inside and outside the Island of Cuba.

  • Assistance to political prisoners and their families within Cuba.

  • Working to expose the regime through strong propaganda, inside and outside the Island, at all levels, using the means at our disposal.

  • Seeking international support, among governments and cultural figures from all parts of the world, so that they may express their rejection of the dictatorship.

  • Working with the means at our disposal to promote a culture of freedom; this includes our support for all intellectuals, writers, artists, and creators in general who maintain a committed stance in defense of individual rights in the face of any repressive state, and who contribute to preserving the historical memory of the horror of communism so that it is not repeated.

  • Advocating for greater power and quality for Radio and TV Martí, with the objective that the Cuban people may have other forms and means of information that do not reflect the distorted and manipulated information of the tyranny. Through this, the Cuban people would have a window to today’s modern world.

  • Making the necessary efforts to prevent the lifting of the embargo against the dictatorship in Cuba. With the aim of contributing our share in favor of unity within the exile community, we will not participate in public debates with other organizations regarding the methods and ways of fighting the Castro-Communist dictatorship, since we start from the premise that the enemy is Castro-Communism, not the forms or methods of struggle used by our brothers, whether in exile or in Cuba. Accordingly, with this stance, we respect all those who raise their voices against the regime and offer them our support.

The Republican Party of Cuba is open to the exchange of opinions with other organizations and willing to coordinate efforts in this struggle. To this end, it will seek to communicate with such organizations, and we would appreciate their contacting us as well. We are prepared to forge tactical alliances, in the current circumstances, from a position of absolute mutual respect, in order to focus on the central point of agreement, which must be the overthrow of the communist tyranny in Cuba.

We will prevail!

Board of Directors.

Republican Party of Cuba.
